Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary invites you to join us in welcoming the humpback whales back to Hawai‘i. Create a poster celebrating their return for the chance to win a prize!

To Participate:

The poster contest is open to students grades K-12. Posters will be judged as grades K-2, 3-5, and 6-12.

Through support from the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, a first place prize will be given for each category. The top twelve posters will be made into a 2023 calendar to be made available on our website.

Posters are to be made on 8.5 x 11 inch paper using pens, crayons, paint, water colors, markers, or colored or black pencils. Photos should depict whales in their ocean habitat. Use your imagination and have some fun!
