February is Humpback Whale Month in Hawai`i

Each year the sanctuary celebrates February as Humpback Whale Month. Get involved in this special statewide campaign that aims to increase awareness about the sanctuary and humpback whales. View sanctuary events for the month of February.

State Proclamation

On February 13th, 2012, Governor Neil Abercrombie officially proclaimed February 2012 as Humpback Whale Awareness Month in a ceremony at the State Capitol. Download the signed Proclamation. This was the third time that humpback whales received this special designation in the State of Hawaiʻi. This special statewide campaign aims to increase awareness about the sanctuary and humpback whales while offering the public a chance to get involved in whale season.
