Site Leader Information

Site leaders play a key role in the success of the Ocean Count. They are responsible for making sure that everyone knows where to meet, how the data collection will be done, and how their group will be organized.

Due to the need for consistent data collection over the course of the project, site leaders will be required to participate in all three dates. Two site leaders will be assigned to each site.

Training is mandatory for all site leaders to ensure that they are aware of their responsibilities and familiar with data collection procedures. For a schedule of training dates, please see below.

Forms will be provided to all site leaders to conduct the count. A handbook will be provided to each site leader at the site leader training. A pdf version can also be downloaded (click here, Large File - 1.4 MB, please allow time to download).

For their efforts, site leaders will be provided with a free Sanctuary Ocean Count t-shirt prior to the first count. When you register to be a site leader, please indicate your t-shirt size to the count coordinator.

Registration for 2008 Sanctuary Ocean Count site leaders will begin in November 2007.

If you are interested in being a site leader for O`ahu or the Big Island please call 1-888-55-WHALE ext. 253.
For Kaua`i please call 1-808-246-2860.
