Site leaders play a key role in the success of the Ocean Count. They are responsible for general volunteer management and for overseeing data collection at their site, making sure that everyone knows where to meet, how the data collection will be done, and how their group will be organized.
Due to the need for consistent data collection over the course of the project, site leaders will be required to participate in all three dates. Two site leaders will be assigned to each site. One of the two site leaders will be selected to act as the primary contact person for general volunteers that register for their assigned site.
Training is mandatory for all site leaders to ensure that they are aware of their responsibilities and familiar with data collection procedures. Contact the appropriate number below to find out exact training dates and locations.
A project guide will be provided to site leaders at the site leader training. The guide can also be downloaded.
For their efforts, site leaders will be provided with a free Sanctuary Ocean Count t-shirt prior to the first count when available. When you register to be a site leader, please indicate your t-shirt size to the count coordinator. Please note: t-shirts may be limited to one per family member depending on quantities in stock.
Registration for Sanctuary Ocean Count site leaders begins each November. To inquire, please call or E-mail us.
