Sanctuary Advisory Council Working Groups
Working groups formed by the Sanctuary Advisory Council (council) have developed management recommendations to address priority issues identified during the 90-day public scoping period held in the summer and fall of 2010. The working groups were made up of council members and non-council members including cultural advisors, representatives of user groups, technical experts, and state and federal agency representatives. These recommendations do not reflect the endorsement of any individuals or agencies but are a result of a process by the working groups which synthesized multiple sources of information and collectively developed and produced these reports. Working group reports were presented to the full council at an open public meeting on January 17-18, 2012 and the council voted to forward all recommendation reports to sanctuary management. Sanctuary management will consider council recommendations and continue consultations with state and federal agency partners, subject matter experts and stakeholders while developing an updated draft management plan and associated environmental assessment. There will continue to be many opportunities for public input before any final decisions are made.
